About the event

Much of my art starts

as an adventure in a new place. I collect imagery, objects, even materials to draw with. The

place drives the results.

As part of the project, I want to investigate how others see this land.

Workshop 3:

"In the third workshop I would like to bring together people who may not consider

themselves to be ‘artists’ at all. I know there is a trail running group in Denmark, who I will

contact ahead of time 1 . I would also like to seek out the climbers. I know that Monkey Rock

is popular with them and even has a climbing guide, published by Paul Collis in 2016 2 .

Climbing is a route up a rock not unlike a superimposed line drawing. Climbers interact with

the forms in a way I find interesting as a painter of form.

...A rock ‘feature’ can have a place in culture. it is significant, sacred, and importantly unceded,

despite the many uses it may now have. Tourists for example commune with sacred destinations as places to wonder

at, often without knowing the cultural context. Scientists, educators, community leaders,

gallerists, I would like to invite them to this third workshop.

During the workshops I would talk about a potential show and see who would be interested

in meeting again and helping me curate the work. At the end of

the workshops, I would arrange to meet with interested members of each group again and we

would formulate a plan with your help going forward for a show. "
