About the event

David Rastrick and Jazztrix Quintet, plus two special guest vocalists, present a concert dedicated to the great jazz composer Burt Bacharach - at Denmark Artshouse this October.

Jazztrix Quintet will be joined by two local vocalists - Whitney Weaver (Impact), who will sing the songs popularised by Dione Warwick, and Rachael Colmer-Rastrick (Chorus, Breaksea, Penelope and Marlin…) who will perform Bacharach’s songs as played by The Carpenters.

The show builds on the success of the recent launch of the combined Brilliant Bacharach shows at Spectrum Theatre earlier this year.

Bacharach’s background was a composer in a publishing house, and his compositions were written for and played by well known and popular artists such as Dione Warwick, Cilia Black, Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones, Herb Alpert and The Carpenters. Bacharach’s well crafted compositions - in an easy listening crossover with pop music and Bossa Nova - include many songs that are classics today, including The Look of Love, Alfie, What The World Needs Now is Love, Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head, and This Guy’s In Love With You. Some Bacharach compositions The Carpenters sang include, Close to You and I’ll Never Fall In Love Again.

Trumpet player David Rastrick will be joined by stalwarts of the South Coast jazz scene, Lauchlan Gillett on drum-kit, Grant Moulden on Double Bass, Adam Cook on piano, and Ross Dwyer on guitar, for this fabulous show.

You can hear David Rastrick and Jazztrix perform Brilliant Bacharach at Denmark Artshouse - 7:30 p.m. Friday 7th October. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are available from Denmark Arts.
