Contemporary dance on the floor and on the screen.

Waterways, Stories of People of Place, is a film/live art project facilitated by Nari Lees in collaboration with sound artists Jeremy Hick, Marlu Harris & film artists Rachel Angellini & Robert Castiglione.

This experience of connection, emotional energy & friction between us & the outside world wades you out to the boundary between love & letting go. This follows on from the first & second iteration of Waterways at previous Brave New Works, and pays homage, writing a tale of love to Denmark wetland & coastal areas.

Améliorer four Resolve featuring Talitha Maslin, is the second instalment of John Carberry’s experimental film about contemporary dance. The first instalment was officially selected by the Revelation Perth International Film Festival. The film is an exploration of being an artist and the drive to create. The dancer is tempered by the remoteness of the environment which brings self reliance and freedom. Using competing concepts of strength and grace to make peace with the situation and continue determined.

Choreographer Sym Parr presents The Presence of Wool. The atmospheric electronic soundscape composed by local sound artist, James Gentle guides the ghostly workers and cocoon like figures in exploring the stories of the old Albany Woollen Mill.

Woollen and 50’s inspired costumes drape local community & student dancers, plus Rita Bush & Talitha Maslin.
