Denmark Arts hosts artists all year round in our fully self contained apartment, with kitchenette, bathroom and all linen is provided.
The accommodation offers retro inspired decor, a queen bed, large working table with a balcony over looking the tranquil natural reserve and creek bed.
Situated at the far end of the building, surrounded by peppermint trees and salmon gums, the apartment adjoins an artist studio, available if the artist requires a dedicated work space.
DAIR - Denmark Artist in Residence is a subsidised program offered for four months of the year to successful applicants, Applications Open October to December annually.
Outside of these times creatives are welcome to apply to reside in Denmark and use the studio. To subsidise the cost of the accommodation, the local community welcomes workshops/performances/exhibitions and Denmark Arts' team can advise on ticketed events.

The Denmark Arts Artist in Residence Program supports up to four visiting artists per year to undertake a residency at the Denmark Artshouse for up to approximately 6 weeks.
Denmark has a vibrant creative community and cultural identity and also has a unique natural and cultural heritage with strong community interest in supporting and promoting environmental sustainability and conservation values.
The program aims to provide artists with an opportunity to immerse themselves in Denmark's community and natural environment and to undertake research and development for their own creative practice– and to support skill sharing, community and sector capacity building, encourage the creation of new networks, spark collaboration, and support the mutual exchange of ideas.

John Eden (Kalamunda) - John's practice focuses on creating a sense of place through plein-air drawing and painting. His project titled See Monkey Do (From Sea to Summit) saw him engage with community through a number of participatory drawing and painting workshops combined with active outdoor pursuits such as climbing, trail running and mountain biking in the wilds of the Denmark environment.

Penny Bovell (Fremantle) - Penny spent a year living in the Denmark Shire in 2021 at which time she began a series of works based on the rock formations found along the coast. Penny will build on that work and continue to explore the geography and social history of the area and host open studio sessions and an artist talk.

Elisa Markes-Young (Margaret River) - Elisa is a recipient of a Regional Arts Australia Fellowship in 2023 for a research project titled Tęsknota and the making of home, which had Elisa collaborating with Denmark based artist, weaver and lacemaker Ruth Halbert. Elisa hosted several open-studio sessions and presented an artist talk.
Andy Quilty (Warnbro) - Andy is a multi-disciplinary artist whose practice engages with the observation and documentation of egalitarian creative gestures in outer suburban and regional communities.
