Bring a Plate - an exhibition from the community
Opening Sunday 17th April; 11am
You don't have to be an artist to bring a plate.
Bring a plate is a familiar invitation that we have all received and responded to sometime in our life. Traditionally it has meant an offering of food, but in this exhibition it is an offering of objects, ideas and thoughts from one person to their community. Here you will find a smorgasbord of offerings that will be thought-provoking in their responses to how and what we decide to share with others.
For more information on how you can create and bring a plate to contribute to this exhibition contact Andy Ducker on andyducker@gmail.com

Take time out to connect on the banks of the Kwoorabup River. Using sound and video re cordings of the natural environment, the Kwoorabup trail and river have been tenderly re-created in a small room. The landscape is gently infused with the presence of humans through original music and words. Here is your chance to enjoy an endless loop of beauty and ambient inner reflection.
Make sure you visit the room during the weekend.

inspired by and created during a weeklong residency in Lake Grace by 11 Denmark Artists.
Coordinated by sculptor Tony Docherty, this was an art trip to the Wheatbelt town of Lake Grace with 11 professional artists from Denmark (working in writing, music, and visual arts). They visited the town from October 2009 – March 2010, and then lived in the small community for a week in mid March. During the week-long residency they responded to what they saw and understood of the community through their various art forms. This project is an extension of the highly successful project ‘East of Us’ (which occurred in Ravensthorpe) at the 2009 BNW#16 festival. This project is seen as a way of bridging between isolated communities.

“This Paper Cut Life” by Sue Codee
MOO'ved Fashion and Art Galery, 11 South Coast Highway
14 May - 23 Jnne 2010
This exhibition of delicate paper cut works are based on stories of family, place, community, human fragility and vulnerability, and employ both personal and universal themes.
Sue’s passion for the art of paper cut has been influenced by extensive travel in Asia where paper cut originates, and a need to create 'slow art' in order to 'slow life'. The handmade paper cuts require an attention to detail and steady hand that create an incredibly meditative and focused state resulting in a strong personal connection to the work.
The designs stem from the subconscious world of intuition, dreams and imagination and are playful musings on life, friends, family, and place. They are a blend of design, craft, folk art, storytelling and contemporary paper art.
Commissions welcome.

Art Exhibition by Denmark Artist Cecile Williams
Saturday 6 February – Saturday 6 March 2010
Gallery Central, 12 Aberdeen Street, Northbridge.
Monday – Friday 10am -4.45pm, Saturdays 12noon-4.45pm
WA Artist Cecile Williams has been collecting stories from residents of Christmas Island, Australia's most remote and isolated territory, focussing on the Malay and Chinese population, whilst gathering the abundant plastic waste and relics which wash up on the shore. This exhibition is about an ongoing collective conversation, an intricate labyrinth of visual tales; relevant questions and open answers. William’s pieces celebrate the richness of the Malay and Chinese people on the island, and also explores the island as it is today, with humility and humour. Each piece is constructed of found objects, flotsam and jetsam of the Indian Ocean, and transformed into miniature worlds which encourage acts of engagement and exploration by the viewer, drawing them into the story held within each totem of plastic containers.
