Artists and Contributors:

Nikki Green: Project coordinator is a visual artist and educator and has coordinated many community festivals. Nikki is passionate about education through the arts to build identity and strengthen community. (Refer to CV attached)

 

Sue Codee: (Visual Artist, multimedia Arts) Sue has a strong background in community arts. As well as solo and group exhibitions, she has curated shows both locally and in the Northern Territory and has worked on many community and public art projects.

 

Kate Pope: (Visual Artist, fibre arts) Kate has worked on public art commissions including sculptural and interactive art works with Child Development Services. Her process is organic and site specific.

 

Nicola le Breton: (Writer) has been running creative writing workshops for the Denmark community with huge success. Nicola is ‘stream-lining’ her work to cater to different audiences and has a particular interest in engaging with young people.

 

Annette Carmichael: (Contemporary Dance/ Movement): Annette has had many years of experience in the Arts Industry, and is currently running Oz Dance, taking contemporary dance to regional towns in Australia.

 

James Gentle: James comes from the Hedge Bandits Junk Collective, and Jankadelic. James is a mucician extaordinaire and works with young people, making musical instruments and creating soundscapes with recycled materials.

 

Theva Indrasenan: Theva has recently returned to Australia after working in London in the Film and Television industries. Theva brought his professionalism and experiencein the Film Industry to inspire the young people in the documentation of the Expo.

 

Environmentalists:

Basil Schur from Greenskills has offered professional scientific and environmental input as well as coordinating a tree planting day on the grounds of the Denmark High School.

 

Barry Heydenreich from Greening Australia ran a tree planting project at Nowanup as well as sharing his extensive environmental expertise and knowledge.

 

Indigenous Participants:

Eugene Eades is employed by Greening Australia, delivering Noongar cultural presentations, as well as liasing and coordinating other Noongar facilitators. He is involved in the Restoring Connections project, which is a partnership between Greening Australia, South Coast Natural Resource Management and the South West Catchments Council. This project facilitates the sharing of knowledge to create better understandings of the cultural legacy provided by Indigenous society.

 

Ezzard Flowers is the chair of the Mungart Budja Art Centre in Kattaning and shared some very moving and personal experiences of his life, in particular his childhood with connections to the Karralup Mission.

 

Ryan Humphries is a passionate Noongar role model and leader. He shares his cultural knowledge to educate and build awareness of Noongar Cultural Heritage. Running workshops in Didgeridoo and Aboriginal Artefacts, he had the youth completely fosused and attentive.

 

Zac Webb: is another young and passionate Noongar role model, with a lot of cultural knowledge and stories to share. Working for South Coast Natural Resource Management, Zac ensures that significant cultural sites are acknowledged and protected, building awareness in the wider community.
