As a member of the Denmark based Mill Art Group I enjoy the participation in group activities especially exhibitions.  The Group have exhibited in the Southern Art and Craft Trail since 2006 and in September 2010 are hanging a themed exhibition “Along the Bibbulmun Track” at the WoodWorks Gallery. It has been very enjoyable working together, inspired by the stunning landscape and seascape scenery.

Hours spent drawing dissections, parts of plants and slides at university developed basic skills in drawing and illustration but it was not until retirement in the year 2000 that I was able to study painting.  Not surprisingly I am most comfortable with work based upon detailed drawings but I do explore looser techniques which I find challenging.

My favourite artistic pastime is sketching and painting plants and landscape in watercolour from life.

Whilst watercolour is my favourite medium I find the beautiful landscapes of the Great Southern inspires me to more expansive works in oils, often based upon my outdoor sketches and photographs.

In an effort to develop broader skills and expand upon the technical drawing skills which form the basis of my current style I enjoy attending art classes and workshops and am an enthusiastic reader of art literature.
